How I loved my Thursday afternoons nearly the weekend, late night shopping and yes the little brown envelope with my payslip. It is amazing how a small piece of blue and white paper can make you feel as you open the envelope in excitement to see what’s in the bank and if for some mad reason you got paid more.
The good old days, but things change, no late night shopping, anymore for me, I’m grown up with a mortgage, and I no longer get my envelope. My payslip is now e-mailed to me. It’s great to know I got paid, and of course it’s better for the environment, but it’s not the same as opening up the small brown envelope and holding my payslip in my hand, seeing in black and white what I got paid, I may not have always like what I saw, but hey what can you do.
Maybe it’s just me but you can’t beat the feeling of tearing opening the brown envelope, so hands down its printed payslips for me.

Just a thought….
As Summer is here, key personnel may be off for up to 2 weeks sunning themselves in the South of Spain. This may have an impact on your business. As their key skills will also be sunning it up in the South of Spain.
Many companies use Sage Accounts and Payroll software - if the usual administrator is away - are employees sufficiently skilled to take over their duties?

Ø Sage Quickpay Payroll
Ø Sage 50 (Line 50) Accounts – Beginners and Advanced

Who uses the Apple Mac these days?
Mostly graphics based businesses like advertising. agencies, Web development, branding, imaging etc. Mac is the de-facto standard in graphics development; however more and more businesses want to run all of their IT from one environment, whereas previously they would have had a PC as well as a MAC.
Now they’re seen in all types of corporate environments where computer security is valued above all else (including the Military/Industrial complex), the most famous user from this sphere is NASA- so for Sage users the sky is now not the limit!
Apple’s strategy seems clear: to use the popularity of the ground breaking iPhone to break back into large corporations, and ultimately have Apple Macs on the desks of large businesses. Sage will be there with them every step of the way, emphasizing its versatility in this challenging and ever evolving market.
Support is now officially available for Mac users with the following Sage software; Sage 50 Accounts, Sage Instant Accounts and Micro pay Professional payroll software.
Mac users will need to have Microsoft Windows XP running with Boot camp or virtualisation software in order to have their Sage products supported.
Now with support as an option for Sage accounts and payroll software on the Apple Mac’s, it is giving companies more choice when looking for the right software and support package for their business.

When I was talking to a customer a few weeks ago, he explained the importance of sending your staff out with a smile on their face. People always welcome a happy person. This thought has been cycling around in my head for a while, and I think he is right. I know he is right. When somebody is looking for directions, or with a questionnaire on the street, I always stop when they’re smiling. Maybe it is the invitation of the other to share their happiness, or maybe my curiosity of figuring out what’s so funny.
And although the news from the media is not making me smile that much, there is some news that does. I think it is very exciting, and brings a lot of new products. We don’t have any control over it and it could happen at any time. It ends an era of cold and darkness. Everybody enjoys it in their own way. This magical thing makes most of us a just a little happier, and the good news is, it comes back every year. Spring-time!! Flowers coming out, daffodils, new leaves popping up on the fruit trees we planted last year. Blathering lambs, calves in the fields, great! Swallows arriving, and we even spotted a yellow hammer from the kitchen window. This is also the time of the year that Sage launch the latest version of their Sage 200 and Sage CRM software. I am sure this delivers another spring smile.

What did we do before Facebook, Twitter and linkedin ? Twenty five years ago 15th March 1985 the first commercial website was put up and the internet as we know it was born and it took two years to hit 100 websites. By 1995 there was 18,000 websites. There is now more than 80 million .com domains.
I thought I was lucky to study computers in school back then if only I had been studying web development!

During the recent big move I come across my timesheet for the first day at work with Pims Business Systems. It was on Thursday 20th May 2004, Oh how things have changed. It’s gone from a one room office with three of us in Dunhill to a much larger office with a warehouse in Tramore. I didn’t have any dealings with sage at this stage it was all completely new and daunting. But 6 years on and a day doesn’t go by where a new challenge arises. Whether it’s with Sage 50 or Micropay Professional queries in six years I can say I haven’t had two days the same….. Sharon
